First Day at the Lower Peirce fishing ground

This first morning's event was well received by the public, some arriving as early as 0600hrs at all 3 sites, viz., MacRitchie, Lower Peirce and Upper Seletar. Some had actually started casting the previous day at MacRitchie and Lower Peirce, and even away from the fishing grounds from the Lower Peirce boardwalk. So some policing work will be in order!

At Lower Peirce, a 5kg toman was caught before the madding crowd arrived. Other spectacular species included a Notopterus sp. (Common names: Featherback/Knife Fish/Seven Stars) and a couple of Cichla sp. (Peacock Cichlid/Bass?). However, it is suspected that these were probably caught with live/organic bait.

The crowd at 0930hrs numbered about 50 and generally confined themselves to the designated site except for a few.
