Arts Central: Island of the Monkey God
Category : tvradio
|"Crab-eating Macaques (=long-tailed macaques) are monkeys of supreme adaptability. Throughout South East Asia they live from mangrove swamps to dense rain forest, from high mountain slopes to the fringes of modern cities.
On the ancient Hindu island of Bali, crab-eating macaques are considered sacred. It is here on the island that a unique relationship exists between monkeys and humans - a relationship of mutual interdependence."
