Cargo ship sinks off Sentosa after collision with oil tanker

Cargo ship MV Hyundai No. 105, heading to Europe with 4,000 cars on board, collided at approximately 11.45pm on Saturday 22 May 2004, with oil tanker MT Kaminesan, heading eastwards in the Singapore Strait with 300,000 tonnes of crude oil.

The collision happened about six kilometres south-east of Sentosa Island and MV Hyundai subsequently sank after moving away from the main shipping lane. There is no oil spill and no injuries. The Maritime and Port Authority had warned both vessels before the collision and the ships were also communicating with each other.
