The Singapore Mint issues the 2007 Singapore Identity Plan Coins: Rustic Coast

Category : heritage

From the Singapore Mint webpage:

"The Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Identity Plan aims to preserve the unique “essence” of places that are close to Singaporean’s hearts by recognizing, retaining and enhancing them. These places are grouped into various clusters:
  • Old World Charm
  • Urban Villages
  • Rustic Coast
  • Southern Ridges and Hillside Villages
  • Northern Wetlands and Central Catchments

Rustic Coast is the third in the Singapore Identity Plan Coins series issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). The first set of coins featured the Old World Charm cluster and for the second set the Urban Villages cluster.

Rustic Coast comprises Changi Village, Pasir Ris Park, Pulau Ubin and Punggol Point & Coney Island which are located in the north-east coast of Singapore. It boasts of a cluster of sandy beaches, idyllic islands, lush greenery and scenic waterfronts that provide relief from the bustle of the city."
