3rd & 4th Sep 2005 - Pasir Panjang Heritage Trail

Category : events

Pasir Panjang Heritage Trail
Sat 03 Sep & Sun 04 Sep 2005

Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research,
National University of Singapore
& Reflections at Bukit Chandu
National Archives of Singapore

The Heritage trail unveils the Battle of Pasir Panjang and the flora and fauna of Kent Ridge Park.

During this trail, the significant points of the Battle of Pasir Panjang will be pointed out to visitors. During this battle, a small force of the Malay Regiment valiantly defended the ridge against the invading Japanese Imperial Army. The Reflections at Bukit Chandu museum provides more pieces to the battle and lets us reflect on Singapore's heritage of heroism.

Visitors will also be introduced to the distinctive plants of the Adinandra belukar including native plants like adinandra, tembusu, tiup-tiup and senduduk, and their practical uses. Enjoy the canopy boardwalk and hope to be surprised by flying dragons, crested green lizards, squirrels and sea eagles. View the south-western islands and see markers of the changing Pasir Panjang shoreline brought alive with the memories of former residents.
