On 14th February 1942, 'C' company of the Malay Regiment's 1st Batallion fought a last stand at Bukit Chandu and were wiped out almost to a man. Singapore fell a day after the Battle of Pasir Panjang, on 15th February 1942. The WWII interpretative centre commemorates the gallantry and sacrifice of the men of the 1st and 2nd Battalion Malay Regiment who were tasked with defending the western sector of Singapore. It was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, on 15 February 2002. The Centre is located at 31K Pepys Road and is open from 9am - 5pm from Tuesday - Sunday. It is linked to Kent Ridge Park by a canopy walkway.
