Rana chalconota, Pulau Tioman 2002 by Lim Cheng Puay

Category : photos

Rana chalconota, the Copper-cheeked Frog, photographed at Pulau Tioman in 2002 by Lim Cheng Puay using a Nikon 4500.

Kelvin Lim of NUS' Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research determined the identity - 'there are two species which are similar in appearance. Although Rana hosii inhabits rocky streams and usually sits on the rocks, and Rana chalconota usually sits on leaves, the frog in this picture does not have the barred hind legs characteristic of R. hosii.'
