Heritage Fest 2008 asks "Who's your hero?" So the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (NUS) and Reflections at Bukit Chandu (NAS) have decided to invite you on a 4-hour walk with the Raffles Museum Toddycats. They have plenty of stories to share with you about their heroic candidates!

Learn about our very own wildlife at the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research in NUS. Some have succumbed to the historical and ongoing loss of habitats but some have surprisingly defied the catastrophe of disappearing forests, shores and reefs.

Our guides will share stories of both hope and loss. Some animals will be familiar, being prominent in our folklore and a few misunderstood species will be defended!

We will walk to Kent Ridge Park where you will learn when and why the name of the ridge was changed. The plants that populate the ridge are a community faced with special challenges and you will be delighted when you learn of their adaptations and uses.

In the view of the former Buona Vista Village, learn of the residents of Pasir Panjang who stood together in turbulent times and who also produced some of our sporting greats.

During the walk, we will share with you the heroic stories we learnt of the Malay Regiment who saw action in these very grounds during the Battle of Pasir Panjang. These valiant soldiers dug in against great odds and their final stand against a tyrannical foe is remembered until today.

At the Reflections at Bukit Chandu, our end point, their story will all come together in quiet contemplation.
