Body oval-shaped, caudal fin separate from dorsal and anal fins, eyes on left side of body, pelvic fin bases of equal length, 6 to 13 teeth on lower jaw of blind side,
eyed side with brown spots with a larger and smaller blotch along lateral line. Benthic carnivore on sandy or muddy substrates. To 35cm. Often used for human consumption.
