Pelvic fins separate, yellow with about 4 dark bars on side and a black stripe on head behind the eye, edge of second dorsal fin and upper margin of tail fin red. Inhabits reefs and sandy coastal areas, alone or in pairs, sharing burrow with alpheid (pistol) shrimps. To 12 cm. Popular aquarium fish.
