Mouth projects downwards, no fang-like teeth in jaws, breast without scales, dark brown saddle on top of caudal peduncle, back with thin dark bars. In coastal areas, schooling, feeds on small fishes, crustaceans and polychaetes. To 24 cm. Often used for human consumption.
