Body of juveniles deep and highly compressed laterally, dorsal and anal fins with very long trailing filaments which become lost with age; adults slender in the rear part of the body, but high forehead is retained; head and body silver. Coastal areas over reef, sandy and muddy areas. To 1.5 m. Often used for human consumption.
