Mouth superior, small eyes on top of head, head with bony ridges and spines, dorsal and anal fins covered by leathery skin and connected to caudal peduncle by membranes, pelvic fins joined to skin of belly. Benthic carnivore in sandy or muddy coastal areas, including estuaries. To 12.5 cm. With venomous spines.
