Body very long, somewhat rectangular in cross-section, 17 to 21 dorsal fin rays, tail
fin emarginate, no lateral ridge on caudal peduncle, dorsally green in life. Surface dwelling piscivore, solitary or in pairs over sandy areas or reefs, often under boat jetties. To 1.2 m. Often used for human consumption.
