Euryhaline; 4 cm; oviparous; feeds mainly on zooplankton; gregarious; surface-dwelling.
Indigenous. Some coastal canals and rural streams.

This strange looking fish has its reproductive parts opening at the most unexpected place. The male has a complicated fleshy appendage called the priapium used for reproduction which is suspended just after the head near the gill cover. The urinary, anal and genital openings are here.
