Celebrate Nature, Celebrate Our
Heritage!
Greetings from the Nature
Society (Singapore)! Wed like to invite you to join us in
celebrating nature, our national treasure from 5 to 7 May at Bugis
Junction. Times are: Saturday 12 noon to 10 pm; Sunday and Monday, 10
am to 10 pm.
"Heritage" has been selected
as the working theme for this year's Nature Day and our slogan is
Celebrate Nature, Celebrate Our Heritage! Our objective is to remind
ourselves that nature is also an important part of our heritage,
something which most of us do not even realise. It was decided that a
festive celebration is called for to publicise this message,
encouraged by some of the following fun activities which we hope you
will join us for:
- Kids Nature Activity
Corner. Activities here include Nature talks and show and
tell sessions for kids by nature enthusiasts&emdash;come
learn amazing facts about our local flora and fauna! Topics
include pitcher plants, mosses, ferns, frogs and tadpoles, pond
life, dugongs, stick insects, beetles and other bugs, otters,
pangolins, leopard cats; and other flora and fauna; nature
storytelling sessions for kids; play and poems on protecting
nature by primary level students; wildlife art demonstrations;
green fingers plant demonstrations; nature quizzes with prizes to
be won, earth songs to be sung!
- Button Badge DIY. Choose a
design from our range featuring native wildlife to colour in
yourselves and give a donation to NSS fund in return.
- Tee shirt DIY. Give a
donation and get to design your own tee shirt - graphics using
stencils, coloured fabric paints and a blank tee shirt.
- Animal face painting for
Kids. Parents can go off for a coffee-break while their kids get
transformed into wild animals.
- The Exhibitions:
- Apes - Man's nearest
relative endangered!
- Our Marine Heritage -
showcasing colourful & exotic photos of local marine
life
- Pulau Ubin, Our
Beautiful Island - with photos by writer/photographer Dr Chua
Ee Kiam
- Save The Birds, Save
the Trees, Save the Earth - a collection of artwork by primary
school students
- Wildlife In Danger! -
an exhibition on endangered species
MERCHANDISE on sale include a
wide range of gift and stationery items, tee shirts, potted plants,
carry-all bags, books and magazines, nature CDs, etc. We encourage
you all to VISIT NATURE DAY & join in the fun to
CELEBRATE NATURE, CELEBRATE
