Lower Peirce Reservoir & Forest

Who is eligible? Members of the Nature Society (Singapore). Not a member? Well you can sign up on the spot, or print the form available here.

Details - A Saturday evening walk with Benjamin Lee and the Lower Peirce Reservoir & Forest Guiding Team. Meet at the Lower Peirce Reservoir Carpark at 3pm. The walk ends at about 7pm. Suitable for children and people of all ages. Bring water, insect repellent, wear light breatheable clothing and walking shoes, rain gear in case of bad weather.

Please register by sending us an email. Include your name and the number of adults and children coming. If you have no email, please inform the NSS office: call 794-1403.

The walk will take you for a leisurely stroll along the reservoir to the boardwalk: Wateredge Trail, Hevea Trail, Cyathea Trail, Bamboo Trail and the Oncospermum Trail. You will be introduced ant-plants, spiny palms and some old forest faithfuls. Also on the agenda are pond-skaters, fast-flying swifts, the beautiful sun skink and excitable squirrels. In November 1999, guests at the official opening of the 805m boardwalk were treated to the sight of a Malayan Colugo gliding through the trees!

The walk ends near the famous prata shops at Casuarina Road, so you can tuck in to a delicious meal after the walk!

Where to meet: Meet at 3pm at the carpark of Lower Peirce Reservoir, off Upper Thomson Road (see maps below). The bus that runs along Upper Thomson Road there is SBS No. 163.

If you are coming from MacRitchie Reservoir:

1. LORNIE RD - take 165
Board 165 at OPP ANDREW RD,

2. UPP THOMSON RD - switch to 163
Alight at OPP FLAME TREE PK, and board 163 at OPP FLAME TREE PK[UPP THOMSON RD],
OR Alight at OPP S'WANG HILL, and board 163 at SIM THOMSON CTR[UPP THOMSON RD],

3. Alight at BEF ANG MO KIO AVE 1.

"...Officially commissioned in 1912, the Kallang River Reservoir was renamed Peirce Reservoir in 1922 after the Municipal Engineer Robert Peirce who had been in charge of its construction. It became known as Lower Peirce Reservoir when work began on an even bigger impounding reservoir in 1975.
